Terms of Use
Terms of Use
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Nexus Med News website and any related services (collectively, the “Service”).
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
This text is a general template and does not constitute legal advice.
1. About the Service
Nexus Med News is an online project that publishes summaries and commentary on medical research and clinical practice, with a particular focus on endocrinology and related areas of medicine.
At this stage:
- The Service is informational only.
- Access is provided free of charge.
- There are no subscriptions, paid features, or products sold through the Service.
We may update or expand the Service in the future and will adjust these Terms if the nature of the Service changes.
2. No medical advice
-
All content on the Service is intended for clinicians and other medically informed readers as educational and informational material only.
-
The Service does not provide medical advice for individual patients. In particular, nothing on the Service:
- Creates a doctor–patient relationship;
- Is a substitute for professional medical judgment, local clinical guidelines, or regulatory requirements;
- Should be used as the sole basis for diagnosing, treating, or managing any health condition.
-
Patients and members of the public must always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making decisions about diagnosis, treatment, or any aspect of medical care.
-
Medical knowledge evolves quickly. Content may become outdated, incomplete, or superseded by new evidence or guidelines. You remain responsible for checking current primary sources and recommendations.
3. Eligibility and accounts
-
You may browse public parts of the Service without creating an account.
-
If login-based features are enabled (now or in the future), you may need to create an account through our authentication system. You agree to:
- Provide accurate and up-to-date information;
- Keep your login credentials confidential;
- Be responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.
-
You should be at least 16 years old to create an account. If you are under 18, you may need consent from a parent or guardian, depending on the law in your country.
-
We may suspend or remove accounts that we reasonably believe are:
- Fake, abusive, or compromised;
- Used in violation of these Terms or applicable law.
4. Acceptable use
You agree to use the Service only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not interfere with the Service or infringe the rights of others.
You must not:
-
Use the Service in any way that violates applicable law or professional rules.
-
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or related systems.
-
Interfere with or disrupt the Service, for example by:
- Introducing malware or malicious code;
- Attempting to overload or attack the infrastructure.
-
Attempt to bypass technical measures such as security controls or rate limits.
-
Use the Service to send spam or unsolicited messages.
-
Systematically scrape or harvest content for building competing services or databases.
-
Use the Service to provide remote or online medical services in violation of local rules on telemedicine and professional practice.
We may take reasonable steps (including technical measures) to protect the Service and enforce these Terms.
5. User content
-
Some parts of the Service may allow you to submit content, such as:
- Feedback, reports, or suggestions about articles;
- Comments or other contributions (if/when comments are enabled).
-
You remain the owner of your content. By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to use, store, display, reproduce, and distribute that content as reasonably necessary to operate and improve the Service.
-
You are solely responsible for content you submit. You must ensure that it:
- Is accurate to the best of your knowledge;
- Does not contain identifiable patient information or other confidential data;
- Does not violate privacy, confidentiality, intellectual property, or other legal rights;
- Does not contain hate speech, harassment, threats, or unlawful material.
-
We may, but are not obliged to, moderate, edit, or remove user content at our discretion, especially if we believe it:
- Violates these Terms or applicable law;
- Is misleading, offensive, or harmful;
- Creates legal, security, or reputational risk.
6. Our content and intellectual property
-
Unless stated otherwise, all content on the Service (including text, layout, and design) is owned by the Nexus Med News project or its licensors and is protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.
-
You may:
- View and read content for your personal or professional use;
- Share links to public pages in a fair and honest way.
-
You may not, without prior written permission:
- Copy or redistribute substantial portions of content as a separate product or database;
- Systematically scrape, harvest, or mirror the Service;
- Use our name, logo, or branding in a way that suggests endorsement or partnership.
-
References to third-party names, brands, or publications belong to their respective owners and do not imply endorsement.
7. Third-party links and resources
-
The Service may contain links to third-party websites, articles, guidelines, databases, or other resources.
-
We do not control and are not responsible for:
- The content, policies, or practices of third-party sites;
- The accuracy, completeness, or legality of information found there.
-
Following a link to a third-party site is at your own risk. You should review their terms of use and privacy policies.
8. Availability and changes
-
We aim to keep the Service available and to maintain its quality, but we do not guarantee:
- Uninterrupted or error-free operation;
- That the Service will meet your expectations;
- That it will always contain specific articles, sections, or features.
-
We may modify, temporarily suspend, or permanently discontinue any part of the Service at any time, for any reason.
-
Where reasonably possible, we will give notice of significant changes, but we are not obliged to keep any particular feature or piece of content online.
9. Disclaimers and responsibility
- The Service and all content are provided “as is” and “as available”, for educational and informational purposes only.
- We make reasonable efforts to base our content on scientific sources (such as peer-reviewed articles, clinical guidelines and regulatory documents). However, we do not guarantee that every piece of content is complete, up to date, free of errors, or suitable for any particular use.
- Medical knowledge evolves quickly. Content on the Service may become outdated or be superseded by new evidence or recommendations. You are responsible for verifying information against current primary sources and applicable guidelines.
- You are solely responsible for any decisions or actions you take based on content from the Service, including any clinical, professional or personal decisions.
- We do not accept responsibility for any outcomes, harm, loss or damage resulting from your use of, or reliance on, the content of the Service, except to the extent that such exclusion of responsibility is not permitted by applicable law.
10. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Nexus Med News project and those operating it from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to:
- Your use of the Service;
- Your violation of these Terms; or
- Your violation of any law or rights of a third party.
11. Changes to these Terms
- We may update these Terms from time to time, for example if we change how the Service works or add new features.
- When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and may show a notice on the site.
- If you continue to use the Service after the updated Terms take effect, you are deemed to have accepted them. If you do not agree, you should stop using the Service.
12. Governing law and disputes
These Terms and any dispute arising out of or relating to them or to the Service will be governed by the law of Spain, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
You agree that the courts of Spain will have jurisdiction over any such dispute, subject to any mandatory rights you may have under applicable law.
